The Municipality of Toscolano Maderno participates in the LIFE SALVAGuARDiA project by helping the diffusion of an ecological culture and safeguard.
The Municipal Administration through the sponsorship formula “Adopt a work” contributed to the creation of widespread exhibition In praise of the limit.
From April 2023 Toscolano will host one of the five works by “ecological art”, made by nationally known artists as part of the project, using exclusively recovery material.
Through the language of art and beauty the work site-specific, i.e. designed specifically for Toscolano, will have the task of triggering a reflection in the citizens on the importance of concretely safeguarding the territory.
The municipal administration has also chosen to join the Network of Widespread Warehouse a digital "system", through which the Associations they Third sector entities and the Garda companies they will be able to exchange various types of goods and servicesthe.
Toscolano Maderno: emotions from the lake to the mountains where nature, culture, history, gastronomy and traditions meet to offer unique moments.
Toscolano Maderno is a large "open-air museum" (ecomuseum) to be discovered and experienced among culture, nature and sport.
There Valley of the paper mills tells its centuries-old history with impressive testimonies of the past inserted in a fascinating environment, characterized by steep slopes and narrow gorges.
The valley hosts the Paper Museum, one of the most important industrial archeology sites in Northern Italy, which can be visited from Easter to October; inside the stages of the history of paper production are retraced through an evocative visit itinerary which includes the demonstration of the production of sheets of watermarked paper made by hand by master paper makers.
Not to be missed is also the Roman villa of the Nonii Arrii in Toscolano, one of the most important residential buildings present in Roman times on the shores of Lake Garda; it can be visited from May to September, on Saturdays and Sundays, with free admission.
There are many valuable buildings, historic palaces, villas and churches among which the St. Andrew's Basilica, a wonderful example of Romanesque-Lombard architecture, and the Parish Church of Saints Peter and Paul which preserves the canvases of the famous Venetian painter Andrea Celesti.
